Fantastic house for a large family visiting wales! Loved the animals and very grateful for a cot and highchair to be provided! Pictures dont show just how big the house is, theres so much room! Only downside was a lot of cobwebs but quickly hoovered up and dealt with! Loved our week away

We had a wonderful week at Coytrahen House. Beautifully presented, and very well equipped, Coytrahen is a really classic country home, in a peaceful quiet setting. It was a great venue for a very special family gathering. An unexpected hiccup with the water pressure was addressed and sorted by James and his team, who went out of their way to make sure our holiday was not impacted by this. Many happy memories were made, and we hope to return again one day.

When we arrived, we used the WhatsApp as directed by Skye Cottages for any issues we might have encountered. As of this review, we have yet to hear anything from anyone at WhatsApp to discuss our concerns. Whats the point of having this app if customer service never ever responds. So, given Skye Cottages lack of response over the last six calendar days, Ill publish our grievances here Good evening. We just arrived at the Coytrahen House and we noticed a few issues. There are numerous unclean surfaces, silverware, silverware trays, nonworking radiator heat fixtures, a malfunctioning toilet, dirty utensils, dirty bathrooms with numerous cobwebs, dirty kitchen appliances and first floor surfaces. We had a wonderful stay at Coytrahen for 4 nights for my dads 60th birthday. The house was perfect for 7 adults and 4 dogs, there is plenty of room, everything you need for a stay, the kitchen is well stocked. The dining room is beautiful for evening meals, the breakfast room perfect for slow mornings with great views. The living room is very cosy although the sofa isnt the best its a modular sofa that isnt fixed together so it moving on the floor meant we often had to push it back together whilst we were sitting on it, we also found the cushions coming off the seats very annoying but honestly this is one small gripe that we got over. The living room and dining room were swapped from the listed photos but we found that better, the living room was cosy with the fire and piano, the dining room was light and airy with the feature light. One suggestion I could give to the owner is perhaps a couple of wall lights behind the sofa would be great as we often found the big light to be too bright but the lamp not quite bright enough. The outside space is spectacular, a walk to visit the goats and the ducks in the morning was such a highlight, even in the wet and windy February weather. The peacocks were beautiful, waking up to them on the windowsill in the morning or wandering outside the door. I imagine in springsummer the outside space would be stunning with a fire and star gazing. The hot tub was lovely and the bedrooms were all comfortable and clean. The house itself is old, it has a few knocks and isnt a show home which was perfect for us, we felt like we could really relax especially with the dogs and enjoy it rather than walking round on tenterhooks. I would really recommend a stay at Coytrahen, the hosts were very accommodating and went the extra mile, communication was very easy and I had instant replies. Thank you for a perfect 4 nights

What a fantastic house in peaceful location. The family loved it here and we would certainly recommend it. So much space inside. There were 2 downstairs rooms we did not need to use at all. We were mainly in the large entrance space, kitchen and dining area, moving into the TV room once the kids were in bed. Great having so many bathrooms Wonderful outside space for the children and the dog. A real luxury having the hot tub. Shops for groceries not far away. Coast not too far away. We went to Ogmore beach and castle also to Merthyr Mawr Reserve where I climbed the Big Dipper. We also went in the other direction to Waterfall Country. James was a great host and responded immediately to us when we contacted him. I wish wed stayed longer, many places around we did not get time to visit. Thanks so much we would definitely come back.

Coytrahen House is a fantastic property in an idyllic setting. Comfy beds, hot showers and great spaces for the family to relax together. We enjoyed the hot tub, cooking on the BBQ and watching the peacocks. A super base to visit beaches a 25 min drive away like Rest Bay and Ogmore, plus Bike Park Wales was reachable for some excellent mountain biking. James was a great host and we hope to be back someday.

Our stay in Coytrahen House was wonderful. We were a party of two families enjoying a holiday together and it provided the most wonderful base of operations. The location is spectacular near enough to Cardiff to whip into the city to enjoy civilisation, but when you're sat on the bench looking at the view, you feel remote in the best way possible. The hosts couldn't have been better met us on arrival, to show us the ropes, but then were very hands off. Only seeing them when they checked on the hot tub which was much appreciated. There's enough space for almost any activity you care to think of. Board games in the dining room, family meals at the long table, moviewatching sessions in the family room... and all of the bedrooms were delightful. It's big enough also, that if some of your party want their own space, there are plenty of nooks to find some quiet time. If you're looking for downsides, there are a lot of steps but it's a sympathetically restored old building, so you'd expect it. My disabled daughter managed just fine, and is champing to return for another break in the peaceful Welsh countryside. TLDR Gorgeous cottage, brilliantly located in wonderful grounds and superbly appointed. We'll be back!
